Library Sounds is a new series of performances and talks by sound artists held in the W. Van Alan Clark Jr. library after hours. We’ll be hosting artists with expertise in circuit-bending, performance, field-recordings, noise, graphic synthesis, sonic environments, duck-calls and music.
All events start at 8:00 p.m. in the Library and are free and open to the public.
The series kicked off on Thursday March 1st with JED SPEARE who is, among other things, a sound artist with an interest in field recordings and musique concrete. Jed acts as artistic director of Mobius Artists Space which has been a home to sound and performance artists in Boston for the past 35 years. Jed performed and spoke about the 30th anniversary of his Smithsonian Folkways album Cable Car Soundscapes. Check out his full bio at http://www.mobius.org/.Tomorrow!: March 8th SHAWN GREENLEE

Vic and Angela will be performing and leading an improvisation workshop. In their description they will: “lead a discussion, present demonstrations, and generally muse on the subject of improvisation in some of the forms it takes in the current music scene around us. It will range from personal perspectives to some cantilevered-over-the-abyss general statements.” Angela is in a dizzying array of bands around town and runs the beloved Weirdo Records in Central Square. Vic primarily performs with a cello modified by personally designed electronic elements. More information at: www.weirdorecords.com and www.vicrawlings.com
We hope you will come join us!!
