In case you didn't know, the SMFA Library is pretty awesome.
Here are 5 tasty reasons for this awesomeness:

Everything you need to know to please your bloodsucking friends at parties, graduations, and other gatherings. Not only is this book great, but it's by an SMFA student!

For those who are looking to make something a little more traditional, this book probably can tell you how to cook it. It covers everything from basic chicken preparation, to sea urchins, to pie. Lots of pictures of food prep.

In case you didn't grow up watching PBS 24/7, The Victory Garden is the longest running gardening show (since 1975 & still going!). It's like the Julia Child of cooking shows (actually the shows shared producers and staff). Anyway, this book combines lots of gardening advice with how to cook it. Since the show has primarily been filmed just west of Boston, the advice is tailored to this area.

This book goes through nine techniques that don't show up often at the SMFA (Emulsion Alchemy, a continuing education class does deal directly with these techniques). The processes range from using yeast and soil bacteria and mold to effect the emulsion, homemade contact printing, and fragment the frame. The accompanying DVD gives examples from the author's own film work of the techniques in action.

This book gives you easy to follow instructions on a variety of interventions (that tend to lead to anarchy).
